VISION

For thirty years, Meritage House of Photography, originally Gan Photography in 1978, has been a standard bearer of artistic portraiture in the Tri-Valley. While Meritage House’s portraits are not affordable to everyone, we know that the desire for our work has been as popular as ever. Simply M is born out of two principals: To introduce a new generation of young families to a life of fine portraiture, and to give back to the community that has supported us all these years.

We came up with the charity idea when we were helping our grandchildren sell candy for their school. It seemed a bit crazy to us to do all that work only to receive $3 for every box sold. So we thought, “Perhaps we can sell a portrait session and an 11x14 for $45 and give $30 back to the school!” So far, the organizations who have participated have netted proceeds in the thousands.

Simply M is the essence of Meritage House. The quality and the artistry is still what you would expect from us and we are doing this by having this new generation of families grow with our new generation of photographers. Secondly, Simply M will exist to help all the various charities and schools to raise money for their various causes. Giving back to the community has been an on-going desire for the last thirty years, and to celebrate, we are doing what we can to raise $100,000 for 2008.
